Duo Date

“Now Presenting… Duo Date”

We celebrated Ford and Wyatt’s first birthday three months ago; however, today – May 1 – would have been their first birthday according to due date.

As I noted on their “First Birthday” post, I remember Ford on this day, smiling and charging around in his little shorts like he owned the world. I remember picking him up belly down in my arms and flying him around the room, singing “I Believe I Can Fly”. Of course, I start crying as it occurs to me, “I won’t be able to do this forever”. This ideal-size-for-assisted-flying will be gone before I know it.
I remember Wyatt on this day, curling up and belting out his classic, raspy laugh after Matt tickled his toes. I remember how his eyes sparkled when he pushed Ford around in their new wagon. He was so proud of himself.
These are the moments, beyond the hats, cakes, and gifts, that live on in our hearts.
P.S. I never used to cry! I’m sure there is a scientific reason as to why motherhood brings about a flood of tears, here is my humble opinion. Have you ever noticed M.O.M. spells the same backwards and forwards. Ironic – as this is the very place being a mother puts you… looking back and looking forward. You are constantly pulled back to memories while at the same time embrace the ambiguity, excitement and fear, of the future. All of this while managing the crazy present.IMG_9562I’ve been back to work for a month. More to come on that later. To make life possible… I will be social media streamlining, using Facebook less and Instagram more. If you don’t have Instagram, you are like I was a few months ago, but I LOVE it now!
